I said I'd post a $25 pallet last week & well I can't do that as we didn't spend that much on a single pallet this Wednesday. So here it is one of my unbelievably big ($12.50 +10% buyers premium) pallets I got instead. BTW I really love this auction house! And you will see why I have said one person can't do this alone as again this is only one out of 6 pallets we bought Wednesday & why giving up 30% for others to sell for me isn't a drop in the bucket. We paid between $10 & $15 for each pallet that day, it was a good day! The 2 first items I'm showing separate because they were pleasant surprises as in value (about a $200 value for just the first 2 items alone). None of the broken stuff or garbage is shown this is the "best" of the stuff! I estimate I'll get $700 out of this stuff & I got it all for $13.75 including the 10% premium.

Early 80's new in the packaging Dazey Coffee, soup & beverage warmer (people get $65 Free ship on the bay).. I couldn't believe it was worth that much!

Dang! All that for $12.50! I would say that I want in on something like that, but then I realize that I would approach hoarder status in no time.

This was 1/6th of what we got minus the garbage (tho not everything listed has real value). So in reality this is actually like 1/10th of what we got. You would reach almost super hoarder status in 3-4 weeks if you don't move this stuff. Lots of it will get packed up for a big springtime garage sale or ran thru a different auction in boxed lots.

those tubes might be worth checking; musicians love them for amplifiers

Oh I did & these are only worth between $1 & $4 each on the bay, so I'd rather just sell the 19 as a lot for like $25ish minimum. Their 7C7, 7A8, 7C5, 7F7 & others similar & nothing all that special I guess. Tho in that same pic the 1 bag of track & the box of track & controller are worth about $85 or so.

Man, a flea marketer could rack up at that auction. It'd almost be worth a drive from down here in a box truck, if you could pick up 10-15 pallets like that. Your lucky to have a racket like that going.

A guy from Texas just left here with a small fleet of trucks headed back to Texas to stock his stores. He had been here buying for a month & he wasn't even buying pallets he was buying the more "expensive" main room stuff & a lot of it! He was buying at every local auction not just my favorite one. He said the same stuff at auctions in Texas would bring triple what it goes for here.

A few guys come from Louisville to Indy every Wednesday for this auction. They come in cargo vans & buy 15 pallets or so each. They just stack it all by their van till it's over (the pallet building runs from 9am till about 4:30-5pm). When it's over they somewhat go thru the stuff & repack it condensing it down as much as possible & they toss the broken + garbage stuff. But they often throw away some good stuff cause they can't fit it all in their vans! So I don't leave till they have left for that very reason.

There are guys who only buy pallets for some books on the pallet & they just throw everything else away. A lot of people buy a pallet for a single item on the pallet & just take the rest to the dumpster. We leave each week with a full good average $25 pallet worth of stuff that we got for free because someone dumped it by the dumpsters & that's right where we park. This is exactly why we park by the dumpsters & so do 10 other people for that very same reason not to mention it's the prime place to park if you buy a lot of pallets so you don't have to go far to your vehicle. Auction starts at 9am but these spots are gone by 8am (I get there by 7am) & eat a good yet cheap breakfast before it gets all busy.

We get guys from as far away as St. Louis & Chicago that come in trucks every so often for a big load. Furniture, artwork & paintings at this auction are usually a steal! There must be 10 regular big time furniture buyers/dealers that come in big box trucks every week. The furniture building is huge (9000+ Sq. Ft) & runs from 9am till about 5:30pm.

800 is the average attendance at this auction but it is 5 auctions in 5 buildings running at the same time so it's spread out + they sell vehicles, heavy machinery, boats & off road type toys at noon each week too. I'm thoroughly addicted to this place & its only 7 minutes from my house!

2 weeks ago they sold a military 6x6 truck (a freaking monster of a truck as you could have transported a monster truck on the back bed of this thing). Had 5' tall wheels, fully running & drivable Cummins diesel with a rotatable hoist like a winch & a pull behind huge generator big enough to power a skyscraper or a suburban city block. For $4700.... $4700 freaking dollars... It took everything I had not to bid, the generator was older but was probably $40K or more new. The truck as it sat was probably worth $7500 alone easy. I think most people thought like I did such as what the heck am I going to do with it till I sell it?

I love your post inspectorgadget! Sounds like you are having a blast!
Did the military truck you said sold look something like this? Down here in Oklahoma we are using them for brush/fire rigs---You wouldn't believe how well they work! And $4700 was a STEAL! Those things will go anywhere. The truck in this picture was a military truck and the Forestry Department gives them to rural fire departments.

YES sir that is the Exact truck! Even the same front bumper but no tank on the back of course & not yellow but I realize that ones been converted! This one was the funky grey color just like the boxes right below the door of that one are & this one had a big hoist sticking up 4' tall right behind the cab that could swing to either side & some cargo type boxes lining the sides of the bed. Sold for $4700 & they got a more than massive generator with it! I've seen people here use them to transport 4x4 jeeps to some private "pay to play" off road mudding sites.

It took all I had not to buy it (or at least bid on it), never know how high the high bidder would have gone but it sure creeped up to $4700 slow, I thought for a second it was gonna go for $4500. I still wish I would have at least bid once!

You are so right that thing could go almost anywhere! Even the picture does it no justice as in its actual size (those tires are basically 5' tall folks!!) & I'd sure hate having to replacing a tire on it!

BTW What size of tank is that on the back? I'm guessing 5,000 gallons? 7500 gallons even maybe?

digg.. Some days when they have more than normal & the guys buying are loaded full at the end of the day the prices fall thru the floor to as little as $5 for 2 pallets. Typically they start out at $40 to $75 for the really good ones & $20-$30 for pretty good ones then it drops to around an average of $10.00 to $20 midway thru & then $5 to $7.50 to $10.00 near the end of a normal day.

With the millions people in my tri county area, there has to be an auction house like this around here somewhere, there just has to be! :BangHead: :laughing7: Where does the inventory come from? Do you know?

I went to a pallet auction in Atlanta(closest big city) last year. Prices were WAY higher & quality was lower. Wish I knew where one like yours was in my area. My business model is a lot different than the one I'd need to use to make that work but would love to give it a shot.

Dig the pallet stuff comes from several places.. Some are consignments (half of these consignments are from guys who do storage auctions, the other half are estate consignments), some pallets are the odds & ends from a whole estate this auction house bought out & is selling off, Some pallets are from other large auctions that the owner of this auction house went to & bought it all up. Some are from storage places that sell there instead of selling it at their own on site storage auction. This county + most surrounding counties hold their police seizure auctions at this place too.

They must have 50 semi trailers on the property that are full of stuff that they haven't even got caught up on yet. This place makes a small fortune every week, a 25% seller commission if you take to them & a 50% commission if they come & get the stuff + a 10% buyers premium. Not to mention a $1 "per gavel" fee (every time they say sold it's a $1 commission that the seller pays).

Here is a link to their auction zip listing for this week & you can go to their main page from there... BTW They only picture maybe 1/3rd of what they actually have (no pallets) & this week they don't picture much glass either but it's there, its always there! This place is 7 minutes from my house so I go preview the stuff between 8am & 5pm any day I want to.

Public Auction Sale: Market Day with 1961 Valiant Auto - Indianapolis , In

An overhead picture of the place from a few years ago (the area with the 15ish semi trailers is now packed with twice as many trailers) & in the top right corner where you can see 1 trailer now has at least 10 there. More trailers are now sitting where the one is sitting on the gravel near the bottom of the pic. They do this semi trailer thing because it's in a flood zone & the place has flooded before + they need the trucks to go get the stuff. The property use to be a lumber company.
