Didn't Texas want to be annexed to stop Mexico invading? (again) I know this comment will rile up all my Lone Star friends, but it is a good way to resume the silliness.
No wonder they wanted to join The US, they couldn't even make coins.
As for controlling Canadian territory, we should give homesteader rights to anyone who can farm a parcel for 5 years.
First new USanadian law: No sandals and socks.
Second: No more metric system. (Honestly, the rest of the world is just wrong.)
Texas was annexed for five main reasons:
1. Religion (the Anglo settlers were primarily Protestant rather than Catholic)
2. Self-Determination (a habit the settlers had picked up back east and was ingrained in their psyche--we generally call it democracy)
3. LAND
4. LAND
5. LAND--and more LAND!
I am not a Texas historian, but I am from Texas. Prefer 20th century American history, personally--and coin rolling
