The bottom has like a bolt screw hole like maybe it was mounted on a desk or table

This is a long shot but does it look like it could be remnants of a broadcast mic from years ago?

What does the other end of it look like? Is it heavy, if you look close at it, you will see the star pattern of a gas burner.

Not sure about the gas burner. It could be. Going to look closer later. Looks homemade. Pretty heavy too

I think Brian is right I remember seeing one something like that on an old stove an industrial sized model.
