I hit a park yesterday that has always produced an abundance of nickels. This park has a tremendous amount of history. It opened in the 1860's.
Most of the guys that hunt this location focus on deep targets. I'm talking, 7, or 8 inches, or deeper. The popular weapon of choice is the CTX with a few guys starting to try the DEUS. My selection yesterday was the CTX.

I was definitely watching for targets at the 7 or 8 inch depth but the majority were around 3 or 4 inches with a few surface coins retrieved. I did get 2 wheat pennies that were around 7 inches deep, but again, with the exception of a 1919, and a 1924, most were about 4 inches deep.

I ended up with a 120 coin day and a silver ring. The ring is a little different because the .925 stamp is on the outside of the band. I hadn't gotten out because of the weather so yesterday's hunt was a long one. (9 hours). Hope everyone else had a good weekend.

I love taking my walks in lovely, wide open spaces. Just adds to my pleasure of being out.
Looks like a very successful one for you! A lot of those "deep seekers" skip over nickles
as unimportant. ;)

What a load of coins. Like the ring too, especially with the .925 on the outside. Can you show the stone more closely?

You did a lot of digging. The nice SLQ that I found on Saturday was about 100' to the right of your photo #6. I know what you mean about those 3-4" targets. The 12/45's at 4" drive me nuts. You don't want to pass them, but in this park they always seem to be clad dimes. Nice ring. Man did you dig a bunch if nickels. I don't think there's any gold that's going to get by you. I must be getting lazy as I didn't dig nearly as many.

Don,
I don't think you're getting lazy.
I think you're one of the very selective sharpies, who usually leaves the park with some real old quality coins.
I was hoping to run into you on Sunday.

Well done ATW. Glad that you were able to get out again.

I got a really good chipmunk recipe, if you need one.

Best of luck to you sir!
