I found one of those a few years ago on a beach in Jamaica. It is considered to be Irish and called a Claddagh. Nice find!

Depending on the design details it could be either Irish OR Scottish. There is also "a Code" in how it's worn as a ring. Crown towards the body means one thing, away means another. Same goes for the hand it's worn on. Kind of like an old school way of figuring out if a person is single or not without having to ask them directly.
