Got in right before low tide - I hit a few recent coin drops and thought I might do good
then it got got slow - a few more recent coin drops
but then I found some steel encrusted nails and spikes laying right on top
this place is real clean but there are still encrusted steel objects down real deep and only way they end up on top is if someone digs them up and dumps them - so i knew someone had been there recently - then a regular old swimmer that I know for years pulled up and told me he did not think I'd do very good because he has seen others there recently
I ended up heading to a rock fishing jetty - I have been finding gold where I been finding sinkers recently at other spots and I have never seen or heard of anyone hunting in this area at this spot - they dont allow swimming there - ANYMORE -but yrs ago they did not have the roped off areas and rules we have now
as i got close I started hitting sinkers - then I started hitting coins
I was getting encrusted clads down deep along with crusty zincs and other coins - with the amount of positive targets i was getting i felt the next one could be gold - but alas no - no gold
the tide was coming in fast and i could not continue to hunt in this area and I retreated back to the beach proper - to the shallows and picked up a few more recent drop coins
the beach goers were increasing and I dont hunt in a crowd - so ended my hunt
BUT after getting back to my vehicle and examining my haul - I found that i had found 2 crusted coins that were not clad and a nickel that was caked - when i broke the crust off the nickel - i was surprised to find a buffalo
i also had a few caked pennies that turned out to wheats
2 larger caked coins are silver quarters - nice surprise
and it means next time I hit there I got to get back out there and work harder - now that I know what can be found out there
-there may still be some deep gold to be found
