A few weeks ago, I posted my "rare" 1962 to 1965 pull tab. This was the first pull tab used and it was the first one I had ever found. Well, today I hit the jackpot. I found a six pack spill of them! They were all at the base of a big old oak tree. Someone must have taken a long beer break while hunting that day!

They were pretty toasted, so I cleaned them with Loctite naval jelly. Came out really nice, even though the directions on the bottle tell you not to use it on aluminum. Yes, I actually cleaned up pull tabs! Sad!

Here's a couple of pics of these rare relics from the past:

I tip my hat to the gent (or lady) who polished off that six-pack in one sitting. Good show, sir, good show. :laughing7: Sub PS: Excellent restoration work, FBT!

Interesting that all of the beaver tails are in the same direction.

That's how they were originally placed on the can. The rivet locked them in that position. Strange that they made them tilted to one side, though.

Glad to see you guys can appreciate the rarity of this spill! I definitely need to get a life away from metal detecting!

Yep, that was a right handed guy with big fingers! Just ripped them right off.... They weren't easy to get off back then - it's a shame I remember that....

We used to get cases of Schlitz where we needed a church key. Pop a hole near the bottom of the can, put that hole up to your lips and pull a suction, and then pop a hole in the top, thus emptying that can down into your belly in just seconds. We called it "Torpedoing" the beer. Schlitz didn't explode in your belly where Buds turned into bubbly-gut and you ended up barfing. Disgusting that was, but sure was a party favorite activity at bonfires with my buddies back then. In my prime I was capable of handling two cases of beer without being ultra stupid.

I grew past that! That's why I'm still alive at 68 :)

Stay safe out there!
