What Are These?

Help, please! And thanks in advance for assistance in identifying these items.

They were all found within the same area (5 mile radius) in the same county in central Iowa, and they were all found in or near shallow creek beds.

1) Some type of old vertebra (front & back pics).

2) This is a lightweight, textured piece of some kind of composite material. It appears to have straw or dried grass or something else in it.

3) Scraped/chipped rock.

4) No clue if this is natural or man made. I just like it.

I think your #2 pic might be a piece of asbestos shingle from a house. Even has a small nail hole like they do. Don't lick it just in case!

Yes, #1 is definitely a vertebra...I'm just not sure what it belonged to.
#4 being a fishing weight is...I dunno. Wow. I'm clueless about fishing weights so that never would have crossed my mind. It's a good explanation.
