I’d say Heart Break Ridge and Pork Chop Hill would both be in my favorites.
Platoon
Bridge…River Kwai
Great Escape
Rambo II

There are so many.
Slightly off topic: Death Wish trilogy.
Not exactly a war movie, but one man’s personal war of revenge.

Apocalypse Now my BEST. Not much actual killing but the psychological impact is strong.....I know. (killing people, saving animals) Last of the Mohicans next. The building music score is the whole movie. I've walked those paths up in Chimney Rock State Park, NC. The Full Metal Jacket boot camp scenes gave me the CHILLS! Ah, sweet memories! (R Lee Ermy is the chopper pilot in Apocalypse Now attack scene) The rest, any order. Hey Buddy! ╦╦ç

Apocalypse Now is a deep, deep movie, and Coppola did his best to maintain that feeling of anxiety all through the film. Sheen played his part perfectly, as did Brando.

We Were Soldiers
Tears of the Sun
Bridge on the River Kwai
The Enemy Below
U-571

I don't have a list like that but our go-to war movies are The Patriot, Last of the Mohicans, Glory, and Saving Private Ryan. When I went to see Saving Private Ryan in 1998 I was struck that in the theater were so many older veterans. It was all men, by themselves, lots of tears, especially during the opening D-day scene. It must have been therapeutic in some way for so many to want to see it and remember. I wouldn't know and regretfully I never asked my father about his experiences. Army 1939-1969. A lot going on in those 30 years.

I can understand those guys that would not talk about their combat. My talking about it was (is still) my therapy. ╦╦ç

Kind of surprised no one had said Midway, or The dirty dozen or Kelly's heroes.
Oddball (Donald Sutherland) had the best lines in Kelly's Heroes. ╦╦ç

Yes, Terry S and TerryC, some of all of those you guys mentioned. One of the most historically accurate ones I have seen is "Tora! Tora! Tora!." "We Were Soldier Once" is one of my top ones. I was with the First (Air) Cavalry Division from late '66 to late '67.

I fear all we have done is to awaken a sleeping giant and fill him with a terrible resolve.
