I use a chest mounted GoPro for my videos and a separate camera or USB Microscope for my coin photos. My Samsung S5 takes pretty good coin photos.

Sounds stupid, but I use my iPhone5's camera for small shots. It's actually quite good.

Though, when I REALLY want some macro detail, I'll pull out my Canon Rebel EOS. Mostly, I just use it for taking pictures of coins and then zooming in to see detail (like dates). Using a camera is 10x easier than trying to make it out with a 20x magnifier.

Was thinking of going with a gopro but don't like the fact you cant tell if you are filming to close or to far with out a screen

I haven't done video yet, though my Nikon coolpix s30 does it. Its an under$100 camera thats water & shockproof, and does great closeup shots with good detail

Nikon Coolpix S9100. For stills or video from a tripod.

Watching hand-held or head-mounted video makes me nauseous.

Nikon Coolpix AW120. Waterproof to 10 feet or so. I don't plan on using it underwater though. Its just for those "just in case" times.

Nikon Coolpix here also. Fits in my cargo pocket on my 5.11 concealed carry vest side pocket. It's very light and does both vid and stills, with a macro mode, night mode, plus many more and has digital and mechanical zoom

Great choice, better to use in video mod and export photos of a movie then use it in photographic mod.

i use my gopro underwater on an home made diving helmet:
