Re: What Date's for Silver

Nickels - "War Nickels" produced from 1942-1945 with the large Mint Mark on the reverse above Monticello. 35% silver

Dimes, Quarters, Half Dollars - 1964 and before. 90% silver. Other silver issues would be some proof strikes, most (maybe all?) of these will be from the San Francisco Mint.

Half Dollars - 1965-1970. 40% silver.

"Silver Dollars" - Peace Dollars and those issued prior. 90% silver. Some but not all San Francisco Minted Eisenhower Dollar coins.

Commemorative - Too many to list that contain silver. Basically, if you find something that is outside regular circulating coins, check it out.

Re: What Date's for Silver

Don't forget, people occasionally find modern silver coins in their change.

Some kid steals his parent's proof sets and spends the money.

The US still mints silver proof sets in dimes, quarters, and I believe halfs.

A person can buy rolls of new silver proof coins from places like APMEX.
