what do the symbols mean?

my friend showed me a piece of stone with the following engraved figures. We suspect that these are treasure markers made by the Japanese Imperial Army during WWII who according to old people in our place had a camp where the said stone was found. I am attaching the photo of the stone which had engraved symbols on its 2 sides.
