What do you look for on Sanborn maps?

What structures/areas have you had look finding relics, coins, caches, pots o’ gold, etc.? I have finally found the old Sanborn maps of my area and would like to know the best places to find the treasures beyond my wildest dreams. Thanks!

I bought some sanborn maps of local towns years ago for finding the privies-outhouses. Did a lot of bottle digging in the 70s and 80s

You kind of have to infer where people were meeting, or frequenting on a regular basis...(I.E. - Parks, Local grocery store, Feed stores, Blacksmith shops, Local saloon...etc...etc) Kind of figure out the traffic pattern...so to speak...

I see the high traffic areas as potential for accidental coin and jewelry drops but what about caches? I think the comment about outhouses has potential because I’d imagine people would bury a cache near an outhouse (I don’t know why I think this, I just do) or near natural landmarks. Anybody know where most caches were buried?

SE corner of house for the most part...less snow...wind and or other weather related factors. But...you just never really know what they were thinking...way back then... (Barns, Outhouse, Stone fence, Old Apple tree...etc...etc) Try to put yourself in their train of thought...were would you hide it

I think they buried them pretty much everywhere but under my coil
