Certainly a rock. I'm thinking sandstone or a related thing.

Looks to be a sandstone/conglomerate as EU thinks but its been exposed to some hydro-thermal activity and has picked up silicates. The more solid part that looks like a pattern may be crude jasper or chalcedony. The grains are certainly cemented with a brighter silicate.

Started with a Garrett. I think I've probably tried everything make and model from 1977, all the way to the up to the E-trac and GPX 4800.
Nothing new as for me now, I am pretty much handicapped.
Primary Interest:
Relic Hunting
That is what we call Limonite. Like an iron ore. In s. Jersey they call it bog iron.
If not , and you pulled it out of the bay, it could be a concretion of some sort.
Good Luck!

Looks like another piece from the pile melted on it. They used the material during the R. war for cannon balls , etc... cool find!

The grains seem to be cemented by limonite.
