Hi Molly,
That looks like a fossilized horse or bison tooth split right down the middle longways. Looks like horse :).
I'll check on the fossilforum.com and let you know. Happy Hunting!

I'd wager Pleistocene, but that spans a time of 1.8 millions years ago til about 12,000 years ago!

Thankyou for your comments guys.
Tom, I've researched the Pleistocene, I agree with you. This is an amazing artifact, this Mammoth ( the largest ever) walked this planet before Homosapians, that's just so cool. I am so proud to own an artifact this old. I have some more items I'd like you to look at, will post them soon. Thanx again.

Molly. ;D

As usual Tom you're right on the money. I guess I should have mentioned that, but I didn't even think of it... good job, Ray

Looks like a bison or a cow tooth (they are almost undistinguishable). I wouldn't want to wager on how old it is...I have seen some pretty damn black 'bones' that aren't as old as some may think. It all depends on the context itself. In heavy tanin rich environs, it doesn't take long at all to take on one hell of a thick stain.
