Can anyone tell me what this is? We found it buried in the woods behind our house. Apparently it was attached to something wooden that rotted away. It's rusted metal and about 16 inches long. 20160217_161125_resized.jpg

Nancy can you give some thickness's of the metal and some other angle views.Put something with it for size comparison, also show the areas that it attached to the wood.Thanks

Nancy, this is part of an old wagon running gear. probably late 1800s to 1920. Here is one of mine
