I found this “gun”walking the river bank in vt. It’s as heavy as a hand gun can’t figure this out. It has what seems to be a brass trigger I need help. My first thought was speargun as well. In my limited experience the modern ones that use Co2 are plastic. An iron one would surely be rubber band technology.
The trigger sure looks odd. You've got try electrolysis on this thing.

Best wishes and welcome!

It might be some old pressure washer handle they have a resemblance to a gun.Mostly the are made from aluminum though? So this is just an idea.It could also be a farm sprayer, like for weeds, attached to a tractor with tank, one that would be a single spray attached to a long hose.

I can't say what it is, but definitely not a gun.

The spray gun theory sounds good. That hollow iron handle could have been dipped in poly to form a grip that wouldn't hurt your hand.

Hmmm,

its always difficult to comment when you dont really have a clue. But my first thought was: This guy holds one of those harpoon guns. I am actually still seeing a trefoil point / spear on the front.

What makes me wonder is the brass trigger. this looks a bit older, and these spearguns are fairly modern, arent they. Capt´n Ahab at least hunted the white wahle with handheld harppons. Arrghh...

Kind regards

I don't think so. The "trigger" is a very odd shape and it seems too far away from the remnants of the "stock". You'd be stretching your fingers to reach it.

Now as for what it is, I'm still cogitating that.

If you look up spearguns you will see several that have reels mounted there where that brass (not a) "trigger" is located.

<but I honestly have no idea what it is>
