What is this?

Picked this up last week due to the interesting look. Appears to be hand made from one piece of wood. . Handle comes off but there is but a tiny hole. My wife thinks it looks like an urn.

My wife was concerned that it may have once held ashes, but I see no evidence of that.

Just doing a bit of tidying up on some older threads, mainly for the benefit of anyone searching the site for information.

It’s a decanter. African or Afro-Caribbean tourist-ware and no older than vintage. Similar to these:
