I dug this up in my yard today. It appears to be a 58 Cal "3 Ringer" However, I can't find any reference to that kind of nose. I'm wondering if it is an imprint from over-aggressive ram-rodding.
Any thoughts?
Solved, I think.

This link was just sent to me.

Actually, mics out at .561-.570 and it is 1.00 inch long, with what appears to be a nose sprue.
I am new at this, but I think that makes it a Confederate .577 bullet.

I think what you have it either a "carved" bullet or one that's been rammed home and fired. The marks around the nose look like ramrod to me. Either way, a bullet is a bullet, nice find!
