I’m loving seeing all this old silver. We have been on a hunting slump this Summer and I’m itching to go . My oldest silver to date is this sweet little half dime which are hard to come by in this area. I dug an 18408-O real but alas it was taken in a coat I had laid down.

Real thread is below.

My oldest silver coin was a 1739 8 reales. I would post a photo of it but it was stolen by a relative while I was away at college.

Mine would be this 1661 hammered King Leopold of Hungary I found on April 12, 2014. Was hunting a pretty early site for SW Pennsylvania, but this was still the last thing I expected to find. I found the 1708 cut Spanish 2 reales the same day, but it is my third oldest silver coin.

My oldest silver is an 1802 reale of some sort....one of those shipwreck coins I picked up for 20 bucks at a Ft. Myers Beach tourist trap gift shop.
My oldest dug silver is a dateless thin wafer of a Seated dime, guaranteed it was originally a key date.

Last year i found my oldest Silver coin to date which also wound up being my first barber Quarter as well. What makes the find even more sweet is the fact that i found it with my Tesoro Compadre. Just goes to show you...you don't need a thousand dollar detector to find great things!

Never dug any real old silver. The oldest silver I've dug...was a barber dime, I dug a rough walker, and the oldest quarter was a washington. I don't remember the dates, but nothing rare. I haven't found a whole lot of silver over the years. Not compared to the places we hit when we were going all the time. A little of everything past what I mention as the oldest type.

There are some nice coins in the thread!!!

Nitric!
A Barber dime is fantastic, I've never dug any....
Besides my Seated dime, the best I've found was a 1916 Mercury dime, but not the valuable variety.
So, keep at it, and with a good, positive attitude, and standing in the right spot, you too will find OLD...!
