Hey wheres MINELAB??? ??? :icon_scratch:
I use the excal II and the sov. GT

You may want to modify the poll a bit and include Minelab where you have kellyco, because kellyco is not a detector, they sell different brands of detectors.

The opinions voiced above are correct.

You've left off Minelab.
Kellyco isn't a metal detector.

Maybe toss this thread and start a new one?

I've jumped back and forth from the Minelab Explorer XS to the Gold Century 1023.

Mostly I now use the 1023 because it's ultra light weight--lightening fast--simple to use, and deep. Also with it's tones mode it's super easy to tell iron from nonferrous metals (coins, rings, etc.).

My Explorer discriminates out iron but the GC1023 gives a clear low tone on all iron but at the same time coins give a clear high tone almost simultaneously. The larger the iron the louder the low tone and the weaker the high tone (when a coin is near).

But the 1023 pretty much gives out at about 7 inches deep on coins. The Explorer is more like 9 inches on coins. But too I should mention that the 1023 has an 8" coil while the Explorer has a 10 1/2" coil.

I use the Whites XLT that I purchased in 1996. It's an excellent machine and I don't ever feel like I need to upgrade. I usually search in all-metal with the audio and use the spectrum display to help discriminate.

I bought a Minelab and I have found treasure.
I am getting better at recognising the different 'responses' every time I use it.

I've used just about every brand, I'm currently using a Fisher CZ-3D, Compass Relic&Coin, and original Minelab Sovereign, currently in for repair. My son uses a Tesoro Compadre and I've got a Silver uMax on the way. Can't believe you left Fisher and Tesoro off your list, maybe that's why you're getting a high % on others.
