In the summer, I hunt as early as I can before it gets too hot. Start around 6:30 or 7:00. I'm usually worn out by 11:00 and before the parks get crowded. Wife sleeps in late, so I have done my thing by the time everybody else gets stirring around the house.

I hunt early 0700ish. But I have the option when I seen my electrician wear a light (LED) with aband worn on his head so when power downstairs was turned. He never held a flashlight. Brillent and hands free. So at dusk or early 0500 you can pickup extra digging cooler quiet time.

As soon as I wake up... that may mean 6am... 7am or 8am... But if I have MD plans I set up the alarm at 5.45 and by 6.30 I am detecting in the park... This happens on weekends and I can tell you that there is no one at the park at that time in the weekend.

No set time just when the mood strikes me.Lately though it's been @ 10AM and i go for about 3 1/2 to 5 hours at a time.Heat is tough dealing with but i need to lose some weight and being out there walking around sweating like all heck seems like a good idea to me,drink plenty of fluids as not to get dehydrated, when it get's to hot i'll hit the shaded areas.

Im newer to the hobby, and im quickly finding out that midday summer detecting and digging is a hot endeavor....unless i would be water hunting... Which i have not done yet...im going to be focusing on mornings and evenings soon myself

Well, as most have said, early morning is best in most cases, but just after a ball game when everyone just left is also a great time with fresh droppings.
You didn't ask , but I hit a beach early that is not life guarded or mechanically cleaned. If it is life guarded and mechanically cleaned, I hit it at 6pm as everyone leaves for supper.

Those guys that clean the beach sand with machinery must get lots of good finds in the hopper.

I met a guy who did it for a couple of summers. He told me it won't pick up coins and rings small stuff like that. He told me he has found about a hundred bucks in paper cash. Lots of trash mostly.
