I browsed some under a soldering search but didn't see anything about wattage size. I've soldered metal and larger wire devices with a weller gun for years but things are getting smaller with lighter gauge wire so too much heat is a bad thing. what wattage would give a fairly quick heat time but still not be so hot that a momentary laps of conscientiousness delaminates a PC board? I can have more than one, I just would prefer not to have more than I need.

I wasn't even aware such machines existed! I was more or less thinking 15, 25, or 30 watt irons. Stations like that are all three and more! Considering buying a 15 and 25 watt iron will cost almost fifty dollars the extra money for the adjustable station really isn't much. Thanks to both of you, good and helpful advise. :notworthy:
