What Would Cause This Rock To Be Like This

Was digging some gravel for the high banker and came across this rock. It is different and is the first one I have seen with these cutting lines and what looks like some type of crust possibly. It has a greenish-purple hew to it. Could this just be wear and tear from river movement etc...
All opinions welcome...

What holds it together? It looks like it is fractured with a later intrusion filling in the cracks. It is hard to tell from a picture but looks like green jasper that I have seen in Washington state. Cool rock.

Personally I'm thinking more along the lines of Pyroxene or epidote (greenish stuff), maybe even some copper ore in there?
That could cause a purplish coating of the green mineral.

The "veining" could be caused by weathering of a softer mineral, like calcite.
