Came across this rock today... I'm not very good identifying gold in rocks... Should I crush it and pan it out?

Wouldn't hurt. But when you see that much gold it's usually pyrite. :tongue3:
However gold can be in the matrix along with pyrite but usually only as a sulfide.

Forgive me but some pyrite is mixed with gold if its sulphide?

Yes, Ishtang, virtually all pyrite contains gold. The question is... is there enough gold to make it worth extracting. The gold in pyrite is locked up pretty good. I believe the method most often used to extract it from pyrite is the heap leach method.... beyond the scope of casual prospecting. Crush it and see what you get. Let us know. TTC
