Hello all: After reading posts for the last few months I decided to give it a whirl. Last Friday I went to my Credit Union to purchase but they had only 3 rolls. The teller told me it would take a few days to get bulk. I went ahead and ordered 2K worth. This morning I picked up 4 rectangular boxes with 50 green and white rolls containg 20 halves each (open at both ends) per box. Nothing, Nada, Zero, Complete Shutout. Would someone tell me if I did something wrong, or am I just the unluckiest human in the Universe. Thank you in advance, Michael {P. S.} Also, what is the best way to turn the coins back into currency. Again, Thank you

No, nothing wrong. I think you just need another 16 boxes to tie bombers record of 21 boxes without a silver coin.

This is the first time I have heard about green and white wrappers. Who is the armored carrier?

I'm not sure of whom the carrier is but I'll find out. The credit union is quite large here in Utah but the branch is very small. Are rolls out of the drawer better than ordering? MLS

I would think boxes are better long term. You will run out of the drawer finds pretty quick. There are a few CRH on this board from Utah. I think there is one in Ogden. Where abouts are you? You might want to try dumping some of your rejects at the casinos in Wendover also.

get used to it........... I go though alot of halves to find what I find. Just hope the streak doesnt continue. Plus if you drive a bit and waste a couple gallons of gas not to mention your time...... it gets frustrating.

Hi Boonestone, like bigtime said,it is something you will need to get used to.If you have read a bunch of these posts for a while and figured you would get loaded silver boxes like some on here report than I can understand your frustration,it is NOT typical. On the west side of the U.S.(from my experience) for some reason(We all know why) the boxes just don't produce good anymore.

I have searched in california, nevada, oregon, arizona, utah, colorado, washington, idaho and montana in the past few years and have found similar results from each.

I can't speak for other states, however Texas,Louisiana,Kentucky,Georgia,New jersey and I am not sure where Thurmonator is from, but these states seem to have consistently good boxes/bank finds week after week.

The last 10 or so boxes I got at the beginning of the year were just like yours, which is why it wasn't hard for me to quit ordering when they insisted I started paying THE FEE for them. Some people have much more patience and a lot more $ than I to be able to keep searching silverless boxes, not to mention having to pay to do it.

Bigtime was also right about driving around wasting your TIME and GAS$,It all comes down to how much free time you have and how much driving you can afford to do @ $3.50/Gallon and in my case 10-15 M.P.G. :'(

And Gt's suggestion of taking your rejects to a casino is a great one IF your local casino still has machines that take coin(make sure they have half machines in house).MOST casinos across the country are now coinless or will be soon,So before you walk in there with 100+ pounds of coin to dump on them, make sure they will take it.I learned that lesson the HARD way :-[.After walking 1/4 mile with a $1,000 bag of halves in each hand and being told they are coinless and can't accept the coin,it REALLY ruins one's weekend >:(

And lastly to answer your question of how to convert your coin to cash,MOST hunters use FREE coin counting machines at their banks. This is the only way to be able to search LARGE amounts of coins.

Some on here are searching 6 boxes/week and I've even read of some saying they do 3/boxes/day ??? and another saying he does 18/boxes/week ???Even if I could find a way to get that many boxes(I can only get 2 boxes/week max. @ $5 each-if I wanted them) I would not have the TIME to search them, not to mention the incredible feat of getting rid of 18,000 halves/week!Besides unless I was finding a LOT of silver in each box, what would be the point of all the frustration?

Good luck but if you really want to find silver switch to dime and quarter boxes, the silver quarters will be less frequent than dimes but every quarter you find is the same as finding 2 1/2 silver dimes ;).

And for every box of halves you would have ordered you get 5,000 dimes to search(instead of 1,000 halves) and you WILL find silver in the dime boxes ;D.

Ga.
Here in Ga. I use CUs as dump banks. I have 2 CUs that I use
since according to them I can't order boxes. Try a different source.
I have ordered boxes from the same bank, but 2 different branches
and received different numbered boxes.

Guys: Thank you so much for the ideas and help you have so kindly given. What an outstanding forum, if life just mirrored what goes on here, wouldn't it be nice. Mike

A couple of questions I forgot to ask. What was the CWI # on the boxes?

Were they all the same CWI #'s?

Were the dates all the same?

What was the inspector's #?

Did the green and white wrappers have a manufacturers name on them or just $10 Halves? Some say brinks, some say N.F. String/sons,some say nothing.

I and others are trying to figure out where these CWI facilitys are and how they operate.I.E. which #'s go to what city's/banks.They are HQ'ed in harrisburg PA.,but it is difficult/impossible to find the individual facilitys in each state.Thanks.

Bomber may have the record in consecutive boxes but he's only beating me by one little 40%'er out of 24 boxes in a row, probably 25 after I search the one sitting on my coffee table tonight. ;D :D :) ;)

My rolls were white with green stripes. Dunbar was the truck company. The one I had was OK.
