What's the deal with 1983 quarters?
I used to collect coins when I was a teenager. I noticed back then that 1983 quarters were worth a bit more than the other years from that decade. Now getting back into it by way of metal detecting 15 years later I find myself wondering about it again. Why are 1983P and 1983D Washingtons worth so much more than surrounding years? The mintages are approximately the same, even more than some other years a little earlier in the decade.
