What's the one find that has eluded you?

Realistically speaking that is. We are not talking about twenty dollar gold coins & the like. Something a bit more realistic.

For me it WAS a silver religious medallion.... then last year I found one.

Now it is a gold class ring... I have yet to find one & I expect it to be a common enough & realistic find.

What I enjoy the most about metal detecting is finding the "firsts" .....hitting that next metal detecting milestone.... like a silver thimble, civil war miniball, that first gold ring etc etc. Things you have seen (posted online) that others have found & wanted to find yourself.
That is what I truely love about metal detecting.... those firsts.

So what is the one realistic item you have wanted to find that has been eluding you?

Three things have eluded me so far:

1. A coin dated prior to 1900.
2. The winning Powerball ticket.
3. The secret formula for a potion that changes your in-laws into normal human beings.

Oh well, at least I know I'll find one out of 3 someday!

I have yet to find a buffalo nickle or a mercury dime or a silver washington quarter or silver roosevelt dime or a ben franklin half or a silver dollar or a ring or necklace or...........hmmm, ugghh, maybe it would be easier to list the things I have found, lol. Dimes, nickles in clad and lots of pennies. I just got started (bought my first metel detector last friday) and have had a lot of fun using it. I know the discoveries will come, because there are lots of old and abandoned buildings up here in this part of Minnesota where I live.

Let me see...

A golden ring,
some diamond bling,
a bronze penny from `43,
a silver dime,
would be sublime,
and I am yet to see,
an earring pair,
a fortune share,
of a cache under a tree,
a morgan dollar,
or coin filled holler,
if only it came to be,
if a CW plate,
could be my fate,
a MS token in a tree,
to find none at all,
I'd have a ball,
at treasurenet I'll be!

Pre 1900's Silver - I really need to find me some of that. I wouldn't mind a nice bayonet or something like that. I had a site all researched. War of 1812 encampment. I worked out all the details, had everything all set to go and a team of Archaeologist bet me to it by one week :'( Word has it they found my bayonet and then some........... >:( What you going to do Sh*t happens.............. :- Maybe next time.....

Silver, silver, silver, dammit! Found a silver dime early on and thought it was a cinch. Nothing in five months since in spite of a couple of sites where it should have been.

Three things.

Class ring. My goal last year was to find one but it didn't happen.
Silver dollar.
Ring with a diamond/or any valuable stone.
