The way it is with me these days, I will consider it a good year if I find at least one silver coin. You have a nice pile of silver there! Back years ago I found lots of silver. My best haul was just over 60 silver coins in a 4 day period, back in '84.

Good luck hitting the hundred mark this year!

Getting a new detector so I have high hopes.

I think last year I only scored 4....but like MEinWV, back in the days there was lots of silver. Kinda think for around here the days of hundreds of silvers is pretty much gone. Really gotta work for that silver now.

I just want to find a silver quarter, doesn't need to be an old one, just a quarter. I've found Barber dimes, a mercury dime and a Canadian half dime but no bigger silver. Maybe this will be the year.

I don't set a goal. To me that makes it work and I do it just for the fun of getting out and discovering new or old items as it may be. I do love recovering silver, rings or other objects. But the trip is worthwhile if I don't find any coins at all. Sometimes finding crappe' and junque is just as satisfying. Monty

I agree with Monty, goals make it seem like work. I'd love to find the pile of silver you have there, but if I don't oh well. I hope to have fun, get some excercise, and enjoy the peace and quiet of just me and machine. I'll take whatever I find and God willing I'll find some goodies as well!!!!

You need a ZERO option which is the only silver goal I am sure to meet.

Well last year I found 148 silver coins.I was out to see how many I could find. This year I want older silver,so I'm trying sites that have potential for older coins even if the #'s are not there.Today I found my 1st Barber Half,so even though my silver count is down from last year ,I'm happy.

The only goal I have is to try and get out at least once a week, then I let research and nature take it's course.

Re: What's your silver coin goal for 2009?

My goal is 200. I got around 105 each of the past 2 years that I've detected (2006 & 2008). I took time off in 2007, but still managed around 35 or so.

Right now I am sitting at 37, with 34 coming so far in the month of March.

Others say that if they set goals, it becomes like work. But to me, setting the goals turns it into a game. And my goal is to win the game that is 2009. :)

I also set LOTS of other goals as well.

Re: What's your silver coin goal for 2009?

My goal was to find at least one and so far I have found 2 silver quarters and my friend found a silver dime. So I have exceeded my goal already. My biggest goal is to find an pre-1900s coin. That would make my year!!! :)

My goal is to find my first capped bust silver and/or gold coin this year. It's my goal every year. Both are tough finds in Illinois

My silver goal is 26 to 50. Already over 26. :)

But more relic hunting this summer will make silver finds scarce.

Re: What's your silver coin goal for 2009?

I find lots of silver. And much more clad.

I take all the clad I find and buy US silver Eagles.

So far since 1987, I have bought over 4 thousand US silver Eagles using the clads I have found.

Silver back then was 3 bucks an ounce and the Silver Eagles were going for about 5 bucks each.

Now it takes more clad to buy an Eagle and my Eagles are now coming in at about 4 for 5 a month instead of 4 or 5 a week.

But they are going up in price and that I like !
