Where to look for gold in tn/ga

My family and i may be moving to ringgold ga and working in chattanooga tn where are some close spots that allow gold panning? Do these states allow sluice boxes? Im really interested in finding my first piece of gold! And good metal detwcting spots along the chat. River or gold along the chattanooga river? Are you allowed to just go into a random forest, find a creek and start panning?
