I was reading on the Kellyco website about my Whites 300 12" coil being "easy to use" in the water. Does anyone think that it might even be worth trying in maybe ankle deep water at low tide? Any chance it could locate anything in the sand when submerged in shallow water?

Are you talking about the Whites Beach Hunter 300 detector? It is a water detector it works in the water up to 25 feet deep.....

Almost all coils are waterproof now a days, you just have to be careful getting the controls of non waterproof detectors wet. If the shaft connects inside your controls water can run down the inside of the shaft if you raise it higher than the controls and get inside your controls...

Have one on the DFX, works ok, but not sure on your machines...
