WHAT KIND OF TREASURE ARE WE HUNTING TODAY ?

i bought a new coinmaster mid summer.

got a lot of different machines to play with and i like it

that way.

of all the machines i had none had a progressive screen

setup and i thought it might help finding gold.

well the digital jumps around so bad is kinda useless.

so i used it a few times clearing surface targets for the

etrac. only a few days after buying it i found the used

6000 di sl xb for 80 bux. i fell so in love w it that

the coinmaster set there not used.

finally today a situation arose where i needed it.

i had been out a good part of the day hunting w the 6000.

after some errands, i was ready to go to the park again.

i had 5 machines in the car but 3 were too heavy.

the 2 lighter ones were bandito umax and coinmaster.

i started w the bandido but by then it was getting dark

and no light just a pp.

i kept bumping the ground knob etc on the tesoro

putting it out of tune.

OK COINMASTER GO. NOW IS UR CHANCE.

SHOW ME WHAT U CAN DO.

I knew i would not be bumping any controls becuz

digital pad.

i hadnt used it in hi discrim b4. i was using in

low dicrim and trying to id jewelry.

imagine my horror when i found out once u try hi discrim.

the blip tone it gives on a false is about the same as a good

signal.

what this means folksis.everytime it falses u must double

check that false to make sure ur not missing a good signal.

talk about xtra effort ugh.

save urself some money n headaches. this cant hold a candle to a

compadre or a used silver umax. in fact for the 200

u end up paying either in shipping or sales tax. 179 plus.

many used older tesoro or whites or fisher would be better

than this machine.

i fooled w the sens and thats the only other control.

didnt help much.

tell my if or why im wrong.

yes, i have a coinmaster and i have not had much success with it. it is my first detector that i could afford and i am very dissapointed with it. it is ok for clads at the playgrounds and parks but not for anything deep or relic. looks like i will be sitting on the side lines again! any suggestions?

For a $200 or less detector, there is simply no topping the Compadre.

Some might even argue it tops the Ace 250, but I don't want to start that argument.

The low cost Prizms & Coinmasters will be depth limited in mineralized ground, but it should be possible to turn down the sensitivity enough to avoid falsing.

I first had a Coinmaster. Air tested 10.5" on a quarter, loud beep and correct ID every pass. In my ground with planted dime 3" deep, ID jumped between dime, quarter & zinc. Obviously a coin as pulltabs don't read that high. But I sold it.

Then I got a Prizm IV on closeout. A maroon one with 9" coil. Air tested 9.5" on quarter, IDed it correctly to 8". So possibly better depth on newer Coinmasters, at least in low mineral areas. One user reported getting a silver war nickel at 12"! But in mineralzed ground 4"-5" is about all that can be expected.

Some like the Prizms more with the 4x6 coil, but that little coil costs almost as much as the Coinmaster. Best wishes, George (MN)

Well I must chime in on this subject. Lower end prisms for the money you spend for them will get you paid back on your detector the quikest in my HO. Ihad a II That I swung for 7 yrs . In that time I did get 57 rings . most of them silver . 2copper bracelets a gozillion charms . My best recovery jewelry wise was a white gold 16gram 4carrat starsaphire ring at about 9 inches . that was worth about 8 bills so right there it paid for itself 4times over . Clad my god 1 year of clad paid for the machine twice over. Say nothing about the 50 + silver rings . I now swing a IV . I do not find that many rings with it However I have found so far after 1 year of use 30 silver coins . 22mercs 1barber quarter 1barber dime and 6 rosies . along with 2 gold jewelry finds an 1845 large cent . 3 silver jewelry and about 200 wheats .2 indians one was an1864. do the math . If I could buy another detector it would be a priz II right out of the box . for the money I think it was the best detector.

just goes to show you.different results for diff folk.

by falsing i meant the clik it makes passing over junk

seems much alike to a good signal.

meaning u have to double check each reject clik

to make sure it wont come in clear at a slightly

different angle.

well u sure found a lot w a priz 2. which the maroon

coinmaster is supposed to be better.

wonder why . well i will try it some more.
