White's DFX question

This is a really stupid question, but maybe not. When I'm detecting, and I get a hit I decide to dig, I lay the detector down on the ground. I keep the headphones on. As I'm digging, and I pull up the bit of dirt that contains the target, many times I will hear a short beep from the detector. Invariably the target is in that scoop of dirt. My detector is lying parallel to the right of the hole, and the coil is facing away about 2 feet or so away. This really does happen, and if I hear that beep while I'm digging, I know the target is in that scoop of dirt. Has anybody else had this experience, or is my DFX mysteriously blessed by the Aztec treasure gods? And I really am seriously asking this question.

Re: White's DFX question

1 A coil is sencitive in both directions.
2 The target in the scoop is the exact way many of us check for gold nuggets

Re: White's DFX question

That would explain that. My other White's is not as sensitive and doesn't do it. Thanks, extractor, I overlooked the simple explanation.
