Re: why do most serious md'ers have more than one machine

I have machines that go very deep. Then I have a few underwater machines. I have a relic unit. Then I have a gold unit.

It depends on what you are looking for. Each machine has a set use. For me anyway. Then there is loaning one to a friend who is interested in going hunting with you.

As far as impressing the woman, forget it. The only thing that will impress them is when you find a valuable ring. In less they are one of those hot treasure hunting babes.

I think it is mostly a guy thing. No matter how many times we have been told ours is the best we still want a bigger better one. ::) I only have two now, but mainly use one. I keep the other just in case my main one needs repaired or someone wants to hunt with me.

Re: why do most serious md'ers have more than one machine

Why do carpenters have more then one kind of saw, one kind of drill or hammer and so on?

Same thing applies, different detectors work better under different circumstances. Water vs Land, lake vs ocean, mineralized vs no mineralized land and so on, as well as back up.......

I'm still a newbie, that is just what I have learned. I only have four though, others have a lot more.

Good hunting and good luck....

I know, I am getting another one due to my Fisher acting up and when I contact the company they give me the run around and will not respond back!

Re: why do most serious md'ers have more than one machine

Guys, I dunno. I know a girl that has 12 detectors! And I don't think she has peni$ envy!! Now, I do think 12 machines is overkill... I would imagine that a serious hunter has to have a back up machine for their workhorse detector, plus a water and/or/gold machine if they do those types of things enough to justify the expense. Took me 15 years to buy a second detector. I guess I'm just that confident in my masculinity ;D

Cheers,

Re: why do most serious md'ers have more than one machine

The reason i have two is because it depends on what i am doing. When im at an older place and want to go deep i have one and when i am just coin shooting lookin for beer money i have a cheaper one that i use. reason being is i dont want to put the extra wear and tear on my better machine and also the cheaper one only uses 1 battery.

Re: why do most serious md'ers have more than one machine

My first detector bought was the Whites IDX PRO. A great machine, easy to use ID but not depth. Does have a frequency adjustment, key for organized club seeded hunts. The cost was right, but I knew I would upgrade. It is now my backup and organized club hunt detector. The second is a work horse for me is my Minelab EXP II. I use it every where, fields, schools, yards, shallow water beaches. It has made most of the real good finds I have made. Third and last added is my Whites Surf PI PRO. Needed for the ocean. I am just getting used to it, it is not the same as hunting the edge of the surf. Even standing in a foot of water is more challenging, and the waves just do not stop.

When I find a good machine I like to have a back up. Since you need several machines to do different jobs you tend to accumulate many machines. Besides, it is fun and I can. 02

why do all the best md'ers have more than one machine is it to look cool
or impress women or both

Thanks

Honestly, I think once you grab a detector and strap on a Lesche tool, you have become an official dork. :) But I do it anyway!

Re: why do most serious md'ers have more than one machine

I try to buy units with high resale value as well. Since I bought them used I can sell both of my Excals (one for water hunting other is back up for the first) and get back just about all I paid for them if I wanted to re-sell them on Ebay.

I bet I could get most of the money back on my Whites 6000 XL Pro since I bought it used as well. My Sovereign GT with WOT I bought new so there would be some depreciation there, but when you consider I traded in my BHID and got a good portion of the value of it back in trade in and then what you find with them I'm not really losing any money.

Really don't have any reason or desire to sell any of them......

Already married to a sexy woman so no need to try to impress anyone either. ;D

Each detector is a tool. Some tools are better for a certain job than others. In theory, you can drive a finish nail with an 8lb sledge hammer... but why would you?
