Why my DFX white's metal detector reacted strongly to Pyrite?

Hi.I need some help in trying to figure out what it means when a metal detector responds louddly to Pyrite.not like an Iron type respond but a very loud continous one.some years ago I went to an old mine site.and on one of the tunnels.I detected the walls because I saw lots of pyrite.but I did'nt get any respond on most of the pyrite.so on a small area where one of the wall met the floor I got this huge loud beep.I tried to chip some samples but I only had a small chisel and could'nt get much of if.so in the end I did not take home a nice sample to test.I understand that metal detectors don't respond to pyrite.by the way there was some copper oxidation on the walls but not much on this particular area that responded to my detector.the area is kind of far from my home.do you think it might have native copper or gold in big quantities as to react to the metal detector?.any sugestion will be apreciated.
