Very nice finds, quite the assortment there. :tongue3:

P.S. would like to here more details about the finds. Like location IE: Farmers field, private backyard, you know just general stuff, How deep, what machine etc......?

Excellent example of William I (the Lion). We found our First of this King only a few months ago (Cut Qrter).

You can See:
HVE:W[ALTER]
1165-1214

These were often cut at the mint, as a qrter was still a lot of money. So very likely yours was cut pior to it being used.

I find it interesting (being 'of the Clan') that the reference to "Lion" was given to William not for his valor (or valour, if you wish) but for replacing the dragon on the arms of Scotland by the lion rampart.
Coins of William I were also issue posthumously--up to about 1230 and contained the inscription: HVE WALTER, the moneyer at Perth. Excellent finds!!

Ok, farmers sown field, the find was shallow and didn't give a very clear signal. The machine I use is a xp goldmax which is very good on small hammered coins.
