Wilton bullet vise

I hit some yard sales this morning looking for gold and silver of course. No jewelry at any of the sales, but I bought this USA made vintage Wilton vise for $5. Got it home and looked it up, they go for +/- $250 bucks! Listed it locally on craigslist.

Looks pretty nice. Especially if there is no welding on it, and the handle looks straight.

If you slide the vise open and look underneath, stamped on the keyway should be a mfg date of xx/xx. This was generally a “born on” date or a way to keep track of the 5 year factory warranty

That’s a great find. Yours appears to be a 50s -60s era

Great pickup! I agree with diggummup. I sold an antique vise a couple years ago on eBay. I broke it down and it easily fit into a large flat rate box. Something to think about.

Nice find! Definitely sell it on ebay, I actually just sold one. Sold it at auction, didn't do quite as well as I'd hoped ($203 final price), but I bought it for $25 so I'm not complaining. My buyer spent over $100 to have it shipped to thailand, crazy!

For some reason these have a way of being "sneaky" valuable in the eyes of some tool collectors. Don't quite know why. I guess that's why i have dumbly passed up so many--especially in the 70's. good luck..........h

two things i love finding, old vises and old anvils. A quality modern machinists vise today can run into the thousands of dollars for a person looking to match quality at a fraction of the price these older vises always fill that niche. The modern cheap vises just are not compareable. Great find. And I usually list them on craigslist or offerup, do pretty well selling them there.

That kinda stuff is in demand in recent times. I guess they don't build them like they used to, like a whole bunch of other things these days of planned obsolescence.

Your welcome. I’ve got a thing for bench vise’s, especially Wilton’s. These are a few of them I have in my office. Total number is around 30 for Wilton vises and 10x that for other brands

Now that's quite a "Jewel"!! Don't find those very often down here in Texas. Your workbench or Ebay will a good home for it.

Bigcaddy64, I guess vises are your vice. Maybe you should clamp down on that. Just kidding, I like your collection! We have a Wilton pneumatic vise at my work that we never use.
