Winchester Super Shot Shell

Not that it's really worth anything... just curious...

Anyone know anything about old Winchester "Super Shot" shotgun shells?

My Dad seems to think it is 1890 - 1910 and was possibly a funeral gun salute as we found it in the graveyard portion of a 150+ year old country Churchyard.

Never heard of using a shotgun (other than for an occasional wedding) :D for something like that but I guess you use what ya got.

Lots of Civil War timeline and earlier graves there...

My guess is a 1930-1940's squireel hunter's refuse.

I pulled up that exact site last week with Google... although I can find the drawing of it, it doesn't show the production years...

Maybe I'm looking in the wrong area...

It's actually Super Speed rather than Super Shot which I understand to be a modern shell...

Sherman, thanks for that link. I learned a lot. I didn't even know that the shells I've been finding were that old.
