I recently found this bottle in a river in South Carolina. It is 12 inches tall & the diameter is 3 1/2 inches at the base. There are no seams; I can see some faint horizontal rings where the neck meets the base.
My best guess is late 19th or early 20th century-does that sound about right?
it is one of those "applied ring", mold turned, champagnes...early 20th with a nice deep "punt" or kick on the bottom. You don't see seems but if you look at it careful I 'll bet you'll see up and down "lines" on it...especially around the neck.
What got me started was when I found a fully intact squat cylinder wine bottle in the same river this summer when looking for native american pottery. Needless to say I was hooked!
