We search year-round here. If I was in your shoes, I'd do some research for good hunting sites and get my equipment in top operating shape. Maybe plan to make a road trip to a warmer area just to get rid of the shakes (literally and figuratively!).

I'm going to sort through my finds and tumble the clad. Some research. Watch videos of what others found also viewing T-Net members finds, & try not to drool. I can detect the beach till snow gets too deep, then I will be detecting the plowed piles of snow in shopping centers, not climbing on them but around the edges. Plus unfortunately I will be shoveling snow...yuck!

I walk the local indoor mall every day and while walking I keep an eye out for coins and other treasures. In a few winters of doing it I have found a couple pieces of gold, a $100 bill, and a whole lot of clad. Usually find at least a penny every single day.

I dig through the winter anytime the ground isn't frozen- during spells of full freeze I work on my relic restoration and display- watch MD vids for entertainment as well as ideas.
I also do what research I can think of. This is also the time of year to scan the landscape for places to hunt since the rest of the year the foliage obscures many.
I have gone to somewhat extreme measures to do even the most limited metal detecting in winter, like setting the detector at low sens and prying surface coins from the frozen ground with a screwdriver. I just keep my expectations really low.

I'm just getting back into detecting. Just bought a BH Lone Star. I've only tried it one time in the back yard for about 30 minutes (been rainy and cold since). I'll start waving items under the coil while it's hanging off the table until I get to know some of the different sounds that it makes. I also own several .22 revolvers and rifles that I try to keep in good condition. I have completely disassembled several and re-blued the steel and refinished the stocks. I love to tinker with the guns while watching the snow come down, while sipping hot coffee or cocoa. I'll be hitting the forum and watching detecting videos a lot this winter. Also, watching around town for good places to go detecting next spring. Occasionally, there are a few days during the winter that are decent enough to go out detecting. I'll be watching for those!

You need a change in Longitude my friend. Our season is just getting started. We have cold fronts come through and artics blast and so forth but also many days in the mid 40s to mid 50s which is perfect. You cant hunt everyday here but for the most part when a front is not coming through.

I go on vacation to Costa Rica for a month or so and other than that I play at the casino and maybe a side trip or two.

Also planning on a new detector for the spring. I just want to see how much more I can find with an upgrade from my ATP. From the 11th of Sept until Nov 30th I found $213 in clad and 6 rings with my ATP

My last day of hunting for this year was Nov 30th and now on the 5th of Dec we have rain and sleet.
