Why is my motivation for hunting gone in the winter? I live at the beach and haven't hunted in a few months. It doesn't get cold here either but as soon as its spring its like I am ready to get out again. I know I am missing good finds and its probably better to hunt in the winter because you dont sweat like crazy and there isn't crowds of people staring at you like you are the devil. I guess I just need to get out and maybe I will this week.

Winter can be hard. However as you said sounds like ideal with nobody bothering you, nobody in your way and the area all to yourself. I love rain and thunderstorms for the same reason. I don't have to worry about boaters or becoming propeller bait.

Hope you get the motivation to get out and post some goodies. I have ice and absolutely no desire to dive under it!

Maybe less sunlight effects you or you maybe thinking there are less goodies this time of year. Just get out there for a walk with your detector, try it, you'll like it. :)

No problem with motivation. On this site we should have a motto. The beatings will continue til moral improves!

Good luck

I live about 4 hours from the Atlantic beaches in Maryland. I would NOT think of fighting the Bay Bridge with summer traffic to get to them to detect (I am not a beach person for vacation, mountains are my preference). I have been thinking of making a few runs to the beaches after the summer season ends and the crowds are mostly gone.

Here's hoping you find a way to get your motivation to come to life during the Florida winter.:icon_thumleft:

That's what we do here, encourage.
As happens life gets in the way of detecting sometimes.

Best hunting is in the winter, no competition...cold water seems to keep most inside..tides are lower and things get moved around a lot.

From Dec 24th to March the 6th..22 gold and 100 silver/sterlings

Its been in the 50's for a couple of days so I took the Xterra out yesterday. Unfortunately less than an inch of thawed ground and concrete below that. Finally gave up because it was too frustrating not to be able to dig a good sounding target. I will try in another week, if it doesn't turn back to winter, that is.

I'm with you on this, thought it would be better in Minnesota but if not mistaken, you had a big winter in your area. Ours was pretty smooth, no hard cold but still, it's a long wait. Hang on SusanMN, we'll be able to hunt soon . During the winter I literally live the passion by seeing other member's finds, but admit sometimes it hurts more than it sooths.
