$51,000 was alot of money 10 years ago to make in 1 year. Not now.Not today with the way the economy is right now.Kinda makes you think what someone on a salary like that does to survive being around all that gold and artifacts that got collected from the state. You have to wonder what Dr. Wheeler has sitting on his fireplace mantle.

I do not think this is accurate information.

What I think is listed here was his starting base salary some 7 years ago. (2004)

It will be interesting to see if this information can be updated to what the
current compensation is for 2011.

There also is opportunity while working for a State Agency
for consulting contracts and other stipends.

I am surprised no one has looked a little deeper into this.

Don't feel too sorry for him. He more likely is bagging
a minimum of $85,000. to $100,000.K plus
and looking forward to a sweet - nice pension.

Governors come and go but the entrenched
Tallahassee establishment {bureaucracy} takes care of its own...
I am a free enterprise advocate, make no mistake about that.
Some things seldom change
especially if they stay under the radar.

Our newest Governor based his campaign on cleaning house in Tallahassee
and putting Florida back to work... The treasure Coast is a perfect example
of Floridian economics {jobs} being adversely effected by restrictive agency policy
and rule making that inhibits a local industry {the salvage community &
related Tourism} along our treasure coast

To anyone who may have the governors ear - this is the message that needs
to be made abundantly clear.

To those of you who wish to
kiss Dr. Wheeler's ars.... { a public employee who is suppose to be working for us } be my guest.

Her is a lesson for our government in charge of submerged cultural heritage....

An economics professor at a local college made a statement that he had never failed a single student before, but had once failed an entire class.
--------------------------------------------
That class had insisted that Obama's socialism worked and that no one would be poor and no one would be rich, a great equalizer.

The professor then said, "OK,
we will have an experiment in this class on Obama's plan".

All grades would be averaged and everyone would receive the same grade so no one would fail and no one would receive an A.

After the first test, the grades were averaged and everyone got a B.
The students who studied hard were upset and the students who studied little were happy.

As the second test rolled around, the students who studied little had studied even less and the ones who studied hard decided they wanted a free ride too so they studied little.
The second test average was a D!
No one was happy.

When the 3rd test rolled around, the average was an F.

The scores never increased as bickering,
blame and name-calling all resulted in hard feelings and no one would study for the benefit of anyone else.

All failed, to their great surprise, and the professor told them that socialism would also ultimately fail because when the reward is great, the effort to succeed is great but when government takes all the reward away, no one will try or want to succeed.

Could not be any simpler than that!

Is there a purpose to your rant, AquaNUT? I see no citation, no quotation, total opinion.

My understanding is TNet prohibits such posts.

I could not think of a more appropriate forum title than "Shipwrecks" to describe the current adminstration's economic policy. Enjoyed the post and saved.

Good.
Since you're big on citations, please cite me the Treasurenet rule that prohibits opinion, or posts that aren't academically cited.

I await your response (that won't come...)

The purpose of my post, since you've missed the obvious point, Tuberale, is, with this little lesson, to educate those in government with a socialists mentality to understand that their policy on the underwater cultural heritage is going to doom all shipwrecks and their treasures to decay to nothingness. The government is taking away the the right and incentive for private industry to search for and salvage our cultural heritage. Rather than partner with us, they sit on their dictatorial asses and look down their noses at us while nothing gets done. Without the resources private industry provides, all will be lost!
By the way, don't you believe in free speech either?

You should check under the HOME banner, Rules. I think that covers most of it.

There are places for opinions. Op-Ed newspaper pages are good places for that.

I think TNet hopes for a higher standard than Fox News.

Again, I ask you to refer us to the rule in question.
