Like that commercial says "we already knew that"...try not to take everything so literal...you should think about taking up a career in law enforcement or ministry because you sure are passionate about doing the right thing...legally and morally. :icon_thumright:
Didn't know that morality was the express domain of the clergy and law enforcement. But in your neck of the woods it seems it is. I feel sorry for you. But if it makes you feel good do it in your area. The do what I want when I want doesn't fly everywhere. We don't need to dominate others to feel good about ourselves. Sorry that is out of fashion where you are. But I have come to realize in all of this, is that it is like trying to teach a pig to sing. It will frustrate you and bore the pig.

So what do you think about the guys that knock on doors and ask for permission to detect...you must almost pass out when you hear someone say they do that. :laughing7: So if she gets a pass for her actions, why doesn't ProduceGuy get a pass for his actions? Same excuses that you apply to her could apply to him.

The way I see it, Produce guy didn't knock on My door at the wrong time so He gets a Pass.

and of course IF I knock on someones door it's probably for a good reason Like shaking them
down for protection money or needing an emergency beer (I'm kidding of course).
But seriously everyone gets a Pass in my book except the cranky old Bat Produce guy
told us about. simply because I laughed at his remedy :laughing7:

I dunno, pig seems kinda happy, not frustrated at all.

Perspective I suppose-

Produce Guy is alive and FREE at the present moment! :hello2:
He checked back in, page 8, post # 120, to see what point the pot he started Brewing had gotten to! :icon_scratch: :laughing7:

For those of us that are not fond of doorbell intrusions, a few well placed gun and beware of the evil, mean, rabid dog signs then a doorbell that sounds like two very large, angry, snarling, barking dogs should help! :laughing7:

For some reason gun stickers really don't cut the mustard on the door, so what it's just a sticker. I've never had anyone answer the door showing a barrel before, and I would have to wonder what they had to hide if they ever did.

Best policy is to knock and step way a few feet staying in sight just to give the person some space when they open the door, and the first thing I usually say is I'm not selling anything, but could you help me. Holding an old map seems to cool the heels of most mildly irritated folks even, curiosity kicks in quickly.

A sense of ha, ha goes a long way in life.

yep I usually knock, then take a step back, & look to the right or left.
this gives them the option to peak out & pretend they are not there,
if they scare when seeing strangers .

My first words are "Hi ! I'm sorry to bother you but ...."
this usually puts them on the plate to try & put me at ease.
They either have to Be nice & say "No Problem , what can I do ya for ?"
or show their colors by Scowling at me . in which case it's "warning will Robinson !!!!"
I don't remember anyone telling me to take a hike though.
even when their answer was no they do it with the usual lie.
"I have a Detector & plan to hunt it one day", "I'm buying the kid a detector."etc.

I don't knock at doors to ask to detect though.
I knock to ask who owns the place next door,
Or to drop a Name. "so & so told me you would be able to help me"

if the place is loaded with No Trespassing & they are in the Middle, My first words are
either as I approach them "Sorry ! I see the No Trespassing signs but...... "

Or I stand on the edge of the property like some will do to request hopping aboard a Boat. & wait for them to either approach or wave me on.
it all goes by Hunch & Judging the book by its cover.

But if It does take allot for me to knock at a strangers door,
Because I know how I hate people selling

How about a big round hole in the screen blown outward and red paint splattered on the posts and railing.

But most people are oblivious to such things.

Months ago our dog was chonking away on a bone and it snapped one of his teeth and cut his gums (which didn't slow him down until I noticed blood on the carpet! Hokey Smokes!). I escorted him out onto the front porch to administer what aid I could. The aftermath was blood drops and smears all over the enclosed porch; quite a bit. Forgot about it until a week later the UPS man arrived and I closed the barking dog inside and met him on the porch. He looked at the bloodstained cedar and said "Wow! What happened?" I said: "Dog took down a Fed Ex driver".

Then gave him a big smile and told him the truth. Wish I had a picture of his face.

I agree. Different rights, wrongs and morals and how they handle each for different people. It varys prom person to person, someone can not tell people to act one way, everyone does stuff different and has different morals.

That's why we have laws to keep people within boundries.
