I spoke with one of the locals the last time I was in this area and was told that this field was used for military training during both World Wars. I hunted here for about 5 hours today and made some decent finds! The long grass made it real challenge to keep the coil close to the ground; my arms are now the size of footballs!

I found my first musket ball today in over three years! Have I mentioned lately how much I enjoy finding Canadian LC's & silver coins! The silver quarter is 1961, the CDN LC's are 1910 & 1916, a WW1 Canada General Service Military Button and the US Wheaties are 1943 & '46.

Thanks very much for looking,
Dave

Man that was a good hunt, congrats. Your soil is very kind to your coins and buttons, they are in great shape.

As soon as I see the grass has been cut, I'll be back out there! :laughing7:
This field is scheduled to have a water and sewer line cut through it later this year, so the sooner I can get back the better!

Thanks for your post Cru, good to talk to you again my friend . . . hope your Dad's doing well!

Nice hunt on the coinage and button, interesting if there'll be anything after the digging of lines later on this year. WTG on the saves from the area.

Thanks very much J!
One of the locals also told me that, "this property was scheduled to be developed for 'low income housing' a couple of years ago, but the locals protested and the city 'scrapped' the idea! :hello2:
