WWII canteen questions ???

Hello,


i found this canteen at an estate sale and was wanting to see if anyone knew more about it and value. it has two pins on it im not sure are original to it or added later or by the soldier. from what i found on the pins they are from a Afrika korps army pitch helmet. the canteen appears to be authentic and in extremely good condition other than two parts of the strap that broke off. all info is greatly appreciated. thank you.

Yes, the insignia/shields are from an Afrika korps tropical helmet; the eagle was on the left side, the 'shield' on the right.
I believe they were attached later--for decoration. The canteen looks authentic, but that's just my WAG.
