I was reminded of this yesterday, during a rain shortened
"walk" I did.

This place is new....to me. It is full of potential! But....
even though I used to do nothing but old place hunts,
I felt completely out of it! Like I'd just taken my "AT"
out for the very first time!

I, once again, had to deal with very few targets worth digging
and lots and lots of the typical iron signals to try and weed them
out from between. I just couldn't get my ear tuned in! :BangHead:

Now, it was wet and getting wetter too, and that played it's part.
Still, all the easy walkin' I've been doing lately had me feeling
quite the novice!

The "good" target rich environment that I'd gotten used to was replaced
with some "real" detecting. I could tell that whatever skills I'd garnered
over the decades had withered from lack of use.

Anyhoo.....here's the results of about 2 hours of swim/walking:

The piece with the holes was pretty deep in some rocky, wet, soil, about 12 inches!
Boy was it a struggle to get to!! If I had to dig *everything* in this place, I'd only be good
for about 3 "plugs" an hour! :(

It's non-magnetic and nondescript. Maybe a heel plate for a Lilliputian? :dontknow:

Moral: Have fun with those clad-factory walks! Just go for quarters once in a while too!
But, get a good *hard* hunt in now and then, to keep your skills honed.

Thanks for peeking and reading all this dribble!

That metal piece with the holes looks like a theater mask if you use some imagination.

Glad you at least got some clad. The lizard is sorya neat.

Glad you were able to get out and detect! :occasion14:

"Just go for quarters once in a while"...Whadi, I'm a quarter hoarder...I do a little dance inside when I see that 85-86 flashing...and they sound great too! I once found 8 clad quarters stacked together at 4 inches down...what's your personal best for the most quarters in one hole? Ddf

hey sometimes it is what it is no matter what we do, I call if my humbling hunts
