At least you got out there. Still waiting here for 3-4" rain to really change the creek. Hope you find some nice ones in 2015.

I love pottery finds and can never get enough of them! Your yesterday hunt for me would equal a great day lol I got to spend about an hour in the creek today and found a stoneware/crockery shard not NA, was thinking salt glazed until I researched it and found out it's really alkaline glazed.

Most of the pot legs were added after the pot was done. A lot of the times the legs will come off first when the pot breaks. Some pots were made without. I believe Mississippian period had them but maybe not Woodland. The 2 shards 1 is from Mississippian and the other from Woodland periods.
Its gotten a bit warmer around 40-50 since last week. But we have had drizzle rain for 2 days, very gloomy.

I agree Peaches! Any time I find a tiny piece of pottery, I go home happy as a lark. In my neck of the woods pottery is rare. It's never found in plowed fields here, only along water ways. I've found one or two shards in Durham county NC. The others (not including what Larson and Gator gave me) came from VA. ...."happy as a lark" what is a lark? .... Maybe I should stop using that old saying until I can define all of it's words. Lol!

Thanks everyone. It was better than yesterdays I found. I chased flakes most of the day and didn't find anything good.
