... You take all those pennies to the Coinstar at the bank, dump all those coins in and reach down in the coin return to see if anything was returned and left from the previous user. There was a penny and I remember thinking (and it just did not register what it was) that I wonder if it was previously buried or burnt. Put it in with my other coins and later I heard it being rejected again. I looked at it again and it then registered - 1943 steel. I have not found one of those in circulation since the 70s when I was a boy checking rolls of pennies for wheaties for my collection!
