me and the Warden went out of town to a casino and she lost her arse. On the way back we went thru Lemoore California just for a change of scenery. Driving by a huge playground people had their children playing baseball team wise. I told her to turn around i saw something far away from the crowd. A large sports bag with nobody around it. We came back and i looked inside the bag. A bat, helmet and street clothes. :icon_scratch: Looking further in the bag i found a I-pad cellphone. My wife is smart and she found the contacts on the phone. One was DAD and i told her to call it. He answered and the Warden told him what we had. He said your in the brown car i will be right there. Ok i could see this man running 500 yards away to his car. Well he drove up and we shook hands giving him his stuff. I got in the car and told the wife he didnt even reward me.:icon_scratch: The Warden told me he has Kids. Ok he aint got no money.

We found a wallet last year (I think) in the almost-local Wally-World. It was off to the side in a little cubby hole area near the entrance. It "looked" as though someone had lifted it, taken what they wanted and tossed it. We picked it up and saw that it had a few hundred $$. Not totally trusting the person at the Return Counter, we took it to the truck, but could find only a driver's license. We looked up the name - nothing. Went back in the store and asked them to page anyone with that name - nothing. Finally called all the last names like it in the phone book...fortunately only 2 or 3. On the first call, a VERY old lady answered, but refused to be of any help. The 2nd number was the person's cousin or something like that, and they told how the old woman was a grandmother in her 90's. Anyway, the wallet owner had no phone, and that day was payday. Also found out that the owner had been out of work for a while and this was their first paycheck in some time. A few days later, got a call from the cousin who we talked to (caller ID) who relayed a 'Thank you' from the owner. It was then that we learned how the whole thing happened. The oqner had set his wallet up on top of some boxes on a flat cart that were in the entry area. The boxes were stacked fairly high, so he forgot to grab the wallet. Somehow, the wallet fell at nearly the very place it was originally set, and where it had remained for over a 1/2 hour before we finally picked it up.

I'd be willing to bet that some people who get their items back are just so damn happy that it's only later it occurs to them they should have done more to acknowledge the finder. Not to mention depending on the circumstances they might be feeling a little stupid... so quite a bit bouncing around in their brain... and also they might not have been the person who lost it, so don't really make the connection to reward someone for something they did not feel responsible for. I'm sure you collected some great karma from the deal!

Here's a weird one for ya.

This was a few years ago. I pulled into the Dollar store parking lot as i'm going in i noticed a couple of the clerks scanning the parking lot, i figuried someone had forgot a bag or something.
Cursing down one of the isles i noticed what looked like a wallet barely sticking out from under the shelving. I picked it up & check for ID, it contained drivers license, credit cards and so forth, but no cash. I didn't see anyone frantically searching so i waited in line to pay for my stuff and turn the wallet in.
When i handed the clerk the wallet and told her i found it, her eyes got kinda big and she asked me where i found it. I pointed and said over by the toothpaste. She starts yelling for her manager "Marie! Marie!"
They start going thru the wallet and pulled out the ID and exclaimed "Thats him!" The manager is on the phone to the PD. I'm standing there wondering what's going on, and kinda wishing i had let her ring up my stuff "before" i gave her the wallet.
Turns out 2 guys were just in the store stealing stuff and ran out when confronted by the clerk. One having the misfortune of dropping his wallet in the process of commiting the theft.
Talk about karma!
She finally rang up my stuff as the line was growing behind me and i was able to be on my way.

I don't think it's been hijacked. It's just getting better and better with all the "You're not gonna believe this" found wallet stories.

Hmm....Msbeepbeep is in MA, against the wind in New York, hmm...... Hey wind, did you ever lose your wallet in a Dollar Store in MA?? :laughing9:

Heck yeah, good call. That bag would cost a parent a small fortune to replace.

Finding an Ipad is better than finding an I e d

Or finding that the IUD didn't work..... Good return, cash reward or not!
