Finally got back out to another Privy dig. In between the much needed rain here I decided to take a shot at this pit and dig under the Yucca plants. Turned out to be a decent dig with a few keepers. A couple that I had never seen before too. The Hicks medicine for one and the Empire Wine bottle for another. Got the usual inks and pickles and olive oils. Found a cool embossed South Bend bottle too. Never saw one like this before. The top is really different than all the other beers and soda bottles we get. Not a blob or a crown on that one. More like a medicine top. :icon_scratch:

All in all we have dug 9 privies in this yard that dates to 1880. A couple of those were nothing more than ash pits but we were still able to grab up a few out of those as well. I need to post the other finds from the other pits too. This guy must have been a smoker with all the pipe bowls we found. It was good to get out and dig again. Hope you enjoy the pictures. Be safe out there all and goodluck with your finds. jgas

Nice bottles. Some people do not like that old patina. I do though. Great bunch of pipes as well. Do you use a probe to locate your privys and wells?
Thanks good hunt.

Thanks for the replies. Tn..yep we use three and six foot spring steel probes to locate the privies. Works great on most days, although today it was like pounding into cement. I did find one more pit to dig and when I get time I will be getting dirty! jgas
